Proverbs 27:1 says, “do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Flaunting self-importance isn’t of God; it’s evil. But, yet we see bragging all of the time in Christianity. For example, when a person knows a lot about the Bible it can lead to boasting about accumulated theological knowledge or when a person receives a miracle they can make it more about themselves than God’s Power. The spirit of pride is tricky and operates through pretension, arrogance and people who follow their own evil desires and/or do things to flatter others for their own advantage or benefit.
Many different ways can be lead us to walk in pride which inevitably leads to a fall, at some point. The best way to combat it is through humility. Humbleness is the ability to be exist without pride; it’s way is meek (mild), not self-pleasing or self-willed. If we refuse the spirit of pride, obey God and follow His purpose for our lives, God will give us more grace and lifts us up to glorify Him, not ourselves.
Don’t miss out on God’s blessings. Don’t let the enemy use your weaknesses against you. Always choose to be clothed with garments of humility and love. And, remember greatness in God’s Eyes doesn’t need an introduction: it just needs humility. God is the originator and the One who establishes. His Glory in you will shine through.
