DIVORCE is still a major issue around the world, especially in the Kingdom of God. Husbands and wives aren’t staying committed to each other, because their hearts aren’t rooted in the Lord—the Anchor of our salvation (Colossians 2:7; Ephesians 3:17). They may start off established, appearing to be “unshakable and unmoved” in a promise and guarantee of marriage forever, but they end up unstable and ultimately “undecided” (1 Corinthians 15:58). This is either because they married someone God didn’t send them, thinking He did (Ephesians 5:17) or one person in the marriage or both simply aren’t strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10).
We have full assurance of our very existence and who we are through Jesus, the origin of our identification (Acts 17:28). Without this decision being distinguished in the heart and having the mind set of one living, moving and having their being in the Lord—the marriage is doomed. And, at some point a long the way, it will fail. But, marriage doesn’t have to, especially when both people identify who they are in the Lord, not by the world or their experiences (Genesis 1:26). And, you will be able to tell the difference, because the Lord’s Character and Nature rules their heart (Isaiah 11:5; Philippians 2:8; John 15:13)
Unfortunately, marrying the wrong person is something that happens frequently in the Kingdom, because people move by the flesh thinking its God, when its not. We must hear from God about who we should marry, by asking God to either speak directly to us or give us a sign, dream or open vision about the one He ordains for His Perfect Will (Matthew 2:12; Romans 12:2).
Heartbreak can be minimized, not maximized, if we keep God in the equation and not block Him, by being “moved,” listening to the flesh. We must discern the difference with the Holy Spirit.
THE FRUIT OF OUR HEARTS WILL BE REVEALED SOONER OR LATER
Secondly, we have full assurance in overcoming all things together remaining under the Authority of Jesus at all times. He is the Vine, we are the branches (John 15:5). Apart, from Jesus we can do nothing—this includes having a successful Kingdom marriage. Jesus must be revered and looked to as the Head of the house as He leads and guides the husband who is the head of the wife who also must be lead by the Lord in her heart.
Jesus gives us all the love we need to love each other (Proverbs 3:5-6); peace to remain calm and gentle with each other; power to overcome and bring to nothing the plans of the enemy to destroy God’s union through prayer and obedience (Luke 10:19); knowledge to know how to treat one another; wisdom to know how to handle one another and differences; and comfort to ease challenges that must be persevered together as one in Him (1 Corinthians 6:17).
When both people know their identity in the Lord and function in a marriage as one in the Lord under His Authority:
1. There’s a bond that can’t broken, because Jesus is the center. Both people as individuals are committed to ensuring that Jesus is their connection, influence, inspiration, source and supreme Authority for all things.
2. They aren’t easily swayed by outside influences and Satan’s tactics used to divide what God brought together. (James 1:5-8; Matthew 12:22-28: Mark 10:9)
3. They love each other with the love of God in them and exercise it the most when confrontations arise (Ecclesiastes 4:9; Ecclesiastes 4:11-12), because their hearts are devoted and submitted to the Lord in each other (Ephesians 5:21; Ephesians 5:22-33). And, they have the utmost reverence for Jesus being the Head of their marriage.
